My name is Caleb Kruckenberg and I specialize in Pennsylvania federal criminal defense, post-conviction relief and civil rights matters. In particular, I represent people accused of federal crimes at both the trial and appellate level in Pennsylvania and in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, I file collateral motions to overturn convictions in both state and federal court and I represent plaintiffs when they have had their civil rights violated by government actors.
Here’s why I am qualified to do that.
After graduating, cum laude, from Temple University, James E. Beasley School of Law, I went to work for the New York County District Attorney’s Office, which is the biggest and, likely most-respected, prosecutor’s office in the country. I was assigned to the Appeals Bureau and spent years litigating cases on appeal in New York state court. In that time I briefed and argued more cases on appeal than most appellate attorneys will for their entire career. I later became an Assistant Federal Public Defender, where I tried multiple cases before juries, and litigated numerous appeals. For a sample of some of my notable cases, click here.
I am licensed to practice law in all state courts in Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. I am also licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in New Mexico, and in the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Beyond those courts, I accept important cases from across the country on a limited basis and can obtain temporary admission to a court just for a particular case.
